Dr Amir Hannan – Chairman

Dr Amir Hannan is a GP at Haughton Thornley Medical Centres in Hyde, UK and a board member for Tameside & Glossop CCG leading on Long Term Conditions, Information management & Technology and Patient Engagement / Empowerment. Developing a “Partnership of Trust” between patient and clinician, the practice has enabled over 4300 citizens (36% of total population) to access their GP electronic health record on-line, helping them to self care and gain a better understanding of their health. The practice-based web portalhttp://www.htmc.co.uk puts patients, managers and clinicians at the heart of healthcare and helps drive change.

Founder & CEO – Gareth Presch       

Mr Gareth Presch, BA Hons, a problem solver and healthcare strategist who has experience working in public, private and voluntary healthcare settings in the NHS and abroad. Patient focused and quality driven, a former Chief Officer of the National Haemophilia Council a statutory body in Ireland. Gareth has also managed National Clinical Programmes on Blood Transfusion (Establishment of the National Blood Transfusion Committee), Haemochromatosis and the Endoscopy improvement programme. He has advised and been a member of a number of successful charity fundraising events in the past and continues to support charitable causes. He has advised businesses in marketing and governance successfully in the past. Currently a District Nursing Service Lead with Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, a Member of Cumbria Rural Health Forum, Steering Group Member of CPFT Good Causes, Steering Group Member of Carlisle Ambassadors.

Deputy CEO/Medical Director, Dr Alan Smith

Alan is a medical doctor, with over twenty years experience, certified in General Practice and Public Health Medicine. He has extensive experience working at senior managerial level in both the NHS and Irish Healthcare system including Departments of Health, Arms Length and Statutory Bodies. He is currently Medical Director with the National Cancer Screening Service in Ireland. He has a comprehensive background in clinical and population health medicine, epidemiology, clinical governance, healthcare transformation programmes and quality improvement methodologies. A former National Director in the Irish public health sector in performance improvement, he has led change and reform programmes involving clinical services in Ireland. He is a former CEO of the National Treatment Purchase Fund and has led risk reduction and quality improvement initiatives across the delivery of scheduled care services in Ireland’s public hospitals focussing on quality, access and maximising best outcomes for patients. He is adept and highly skilled working in political and clinical multidisciplinary environments, developing collaborative networks across traditional boundaries with hospital Consultants, GPs, professional organisations and patient groups and developing strategic partnerships to deliver quality assured, patient centred services.

 

Expert Patient Projects Lead – Olive O’Connor

Olive O’Connor is an expert in the field of personal self-management. Having qualified with Stanford University as a Self-Management Facilitator of Chronic Disease, Olive has become a specialist in this area by leading over two years of patient led research on this topic and from her own unique, personal experiences. As a patient and carer herself, Olive has an in depth understanding of the first-hand familiarities in the issues that can arise from manoeuvring within our health system, and so because of this, she has a passion to drive, promote & educate all stakeholders on the importance of engagement, self-management and partnership.

Winning the Judge’s Choice Special Merit Award 2014 (awarded to a business “deemed worthy of particular note”) from a total of 160 social businesses, Olive has always stood by her values and beliefs. A former youth worker, with specialities in intercultural studies, Olive chaired a thirty plus strong committee that went on to raise €100,000 in grant aid/ donations to build their local youth centre. Olive believes that the key to every successful project is through continual learning and engagement and because of this has a wide range of qualifications, including in the areas of Business & Legal Studies. Upon graduating, Olive decided to focus on the innovative MediStori project and was awarded a place on Enterprise Irelands prestigious New Frontiers programme, earning €15,000 in research funds.

Working with a fantastic team, social entrepreneur Olive, has undertaken extensive research with patients, carers & an immense range of health care professionals to develop the award winning personal health management toolkit – the MediStori. Endorsed by the Irish Patients Association, the Carers Association, the Irish Pharmacy Union plus numerous national charities and organisations, Olive was given the opportunity to showcase the MediStori on international territory when she was 1 of 10,000 women hand-picked from across the world to be showcased by the Clinton Global Initiative at their National AGM. An Taoiseach has since come in to support Olive’s work saying it can “save our health service millions”.

Olive lives to learn and strives to connect with as many health innovators as possible. She is currently the event host for Health 2.0 Galway; lecturer for UCD [Forensic Medicine] and has been featured on – Today FM’s Sunday Business Show, RTÉ News, PrimeTime, IPU Magazine & MedTech’s Start-Up Academy of Excellence. Most recently Olive was asked to be a keynote speaker for the Vasco Da Gama Movement (VdGM) for Young GP’s by Dr Peter Sloane – of which she earned 9 CME credits and a certificate of recognition from the chairs.

Olive currently supports and works collaboratively with many charities, with a particular interest in young person’s organisations and mental health. Olive has been invited by many charities including iCAN [Irish Children Arthritis Network] to raise awareness of self-management and with Heart Children Ireland on awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In her spare time, Olive runs a suicide awareness Facebook page, EasySpeak (12,000+ members) which allows people to get advice from with their own central support service. This charity does not raise funds as it is completely peer led and is free to operate.

 

Head of Operations – Mr Fergal Rigby

A dynamic Director with extensive experience working at senior levels with both the SME and multinational sector. A competent strategist capable of developing innovative plans and activities designed to facilitate ambitious growth and competitive superiority. Possesses excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills combined with the ability to influence decisions and develop positive relationships both within the organisation and externally. Renowned for a positive attitude to problem solving, able to handle conflict and secure amicable resolutions. Enjoys being part of, as well as managing, motivating, training and developing, a successful and productive team and thrives in highly pressurised and challenging working environments.

 

Head of Partnerships & Sponsorship – Krista Whelpdale

Krista is a qualified journalist with 10 years experience working in media. Starting her career as a print journalist, Krista more recently worked in media sales at a national television station – specialising in sponsorships, partnerships & promotions. Born and raised in Carlisle, Cumbria, Krista graduated from the University of Leeds with a BA Hons degree in English Language & Linguistics and went on to complete a Higher Diploma in Journalism and Media Communications.

 

Business & Commercial – Dr Deepak Narwal

Deepak is a social entrepreneur with a string of businesses in his portfolio from security, health care, real estate and consultancy services. He began his schooling in prestigious schools in India including Bishop Cotton School, Shimla and Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun. He graduated from Pt. BDS Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in 1994 and soon developed a flair for business. He is also a postgraduate in MBA from University of Hull. His networking skills have earned him successful business relationships and he enjoys meeting people to exchange ideas and create better opportunities for all. Currently, Deepak is pursuing another venture in India focused on provision of quality health care to the elderly and disabled population. He has also committed himself towards providing world-class education and help create future leaders through collaborations with successful experts in the industry. Amongst other projects, he is thoroughly committed towards improvement of global health and environment through his projects.

Head of Legal – Mr Mike Nicholls 

Born in Carlisle and raised in Cumbria, Mike graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with an LL.B (Hons) degree before completing his academic stage of training on the Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University in 2012.  He qualified as a Solicitor in July 2013.

I am a strategic, multidisciplinary clinician, academic, designer & educator with an eye for innovation and perfection – my responsibilities and skills fall between the clinical, technical, creative and development fields.

My strength.
“I have no right” But do it anyway. 🙂
Using imagination, and reasoning with minimum or no resources to make complex systems and thinking simple – developing useful objects and processes that are feasible, functional and sustainable.

I am passionate about the work I do with others to help them eloquently capture their own vision and spirit. Especially in the fields of health and education – both are ripe and way over due for disruption/ disruptive technology.
I also love blueberries.

Leslie is a trusted professional with 25 years’ work experience in the InternationalHealthcare arena. Leslie has a proven track record of success, a strong work ethic, integrity and a willingness to continue to learn and understand the business with both internal and external stakeholders.
Leslie is a highly committed and successful professional Business Unit Director with significant experience across all aspects of managing a business unit in the BioScience and Medication Delivery Healthcare/Pharma Sector. Key responsibilities included leading the sales/marketing team,
preparation, development, implementation and monitoring of business plans and strategies. Key account relationship management and presentation of plans tenders and proposals internally and externally. As a member of Senior Management Teams Leslie has had responsibility for cross- functional
business initiatives for Pan-European teams.
