TECHNOLOGY – #websummit wearable fashion tech

The fashion summit has just a single day on the websummit stages agenda but it’s quite popular, there’s been lengthy queues outside the stage all morning.

Intel’s Philip Moynagh was the token technologist on a panel about wearables in fashion, he was joined on stage by Liza Kindred of Third Wave Fashion and Rachel Arthur of Fashion and Math, the panel was chaired by Myriam Joire of tnkgrl Mobile.

The recurring theme in the discussion was that while the technology exists for wearables they are not yet designed for fashion.  Kindred and Arthur were adamant that technology designers need to engage with fashion designers from the start of their project.

Arthur said that she wanted tech to make fashion more functional, her examples were tech that could change the colour of her clothing or adjust its properties…
